Welcome to the Saskatchewan Al-Anon Family Groups Web Site
We believe that alcoholism is a family disease
Al-Anon is a worldwide fellowship of those who feel their lives have been affected by someone else's drinking. The only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend. Members, who come from all walks of life, meet to share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems.
We find that changing our attitudes can aid recovery
The disease of alcoholism affects many families in Saskatchewan. Although we cannot do anything about another person's drinking, we can work to change our own attitudes and find happiness, whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not.
Al-Anon is not a religious program
Al-Anon is not affiliated in any way with any religious group. Your religious beliefs-or lack of them-are not a subject for discussion at Al-Anon meetings, which focus solely on coping with the effects of someone's drinking.
Meetings offer a safe haven
Al-Anon meetings in Saskatchewan are closed, unless otherwise designated. Closed meetings are limited to persons who feel their lives have been or are being affected by the alcoholism of a family member or friend. In this way, participants feel free to discuss what is in their minds and hearts. What is said in meetings is treated as confidential. We do not discuss members or their sharings outside the meetings. As the saying goes, "Who you see here, what you hear here, when you leave here, let it stay here."
About this website
This web site contains information about Saskatchewan Al-Anon meetings, including meetings of Al-Anon Adult Children of Alcoholics and Alateen meetings.
This web site observes all Al-Anon's practices and principles. Since 'anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions', we practice anonymity at all times. A web site is a public medium which has the potential for reaching the broadest possible audience and, therefore, requires the same safeguards that we use at the level of press, radio, TV and film.
